When we buy a computer, or laptop, the windows always activated. Due to some reasons, like you are using Parallels Desktop, we have to activate it by ourselves.

How Windows can be activated

First

You should have a device which use Windows operate system (of course) and have a key that is available.
The key's version should be the same as the Windows version.
If the key is not blocked or expired, it can be activated.
See Key's error code for more details.

Second

You need to make sure the Microsoft Activate Server is working well and Internet is enabled.
I believe your Internet is working well, not slowly, or couldn't connect any server.
Then the Microsoft activate server check if the key available and what's the key's error code.

Key's error code

If the error code is "Online key", the windows activate immediately.
If the key's error code is "0xC004C008", the windows will generate an information ID, and the IID is used for auto-call system. Mostly, keys are always this status.
If the key's error code is "0xC004C020", the windows will generate an information ID too, but the IID is used for artificial system. See What is IID? for more details.
If the key's error code is "0xC004C060", it means the key has been expired.
If the key's error code is "blocked", it means that the key has been blocked and it cannot be used for activate.
If the key's error code is "0xC004C003", it means the key has been expired, too.
So where are you can check the key's error code? You can go to this website: http://pidkey.com/pidms to check keys if available.
The web website needs username and password. The username is "trogiup24h", and the password is "PHO".

What is IID?

IID is an ID that generated by Windows. It will change if the configuration of the computer changes.
IID is used for 0xC004C008 keys and 0xC004C020 keys. Each IID has a CID.

What is CID?

CID is confirmation ID. If the CID you entered is equal to Microsoft activate server's IID, windows will activate. So how to get CID? If you are in United States or United Kingdom, you can download Skype and call +1 888-352-7140 or +44 800-018-8354 to get CID for free!
If your key is 0xC004C020, you will be turned to artificial system to get CID after you entered IID.
If you are not in United States or United Kingdom, please go to website http://pidkey.com/cidms and enter IID and verification code to get CID. The username is "trogiup24h", and the password is "PHO", too. You might be wait for one or two minutes to get CID.
